What starts as a discussion about recent policy and name changes in Boy Scouts of America soon ends up ranging over many other topics.
Download episode: MP3
Scouter Ken is joined again by Parker, an Eagle Scout and assistant Scoutmaster in Boy Scouts of America, initially to discuss the recent program and name changes that the BSA have announced and/or implemented.
However, the conversation ends up ranging over a number of topics, including popcorn as a fundraising vehicle, volunteer burnout, transition planning and new Scouter onboarding, and many other things.
Also, something interesting happened on the Canadian iTunes podcast charts, in the Government & Organizations category:
Thank you to everyone who listens to our humble little attempt at a Scouting podcast; we really do appreciate your support. And thanks for elevating us, at least for a while, into the Top 10 (in Canada, at any rate); we even topped Bernie Sanders for a while!
Firstly, here's a somewhat overdue shout-out to Iona and other Scouters from the 1st Kinosoo (Cold Lake) group, several of whom approached Scouter Ken at the recent Beaver Hills/Rivers Edge Cuboree.
Secondly, to Colin Williston, another listener, who introduced himself to Ken at the recent Alberta Damboree (which we'll have to talk more about in a later episode).
Third, to Dawn from the 264th Sommerset group. She might not be a listener, but she and Ken had a lively discussion about badge trading while Ken was running a badge trading activity at Damboree.
Also, to Gareth Edwards Lloyd-Tolman, for posting the following question in the 1FBSG:
Is there anyway I can directly download this podcast cast as an mp3?
Answer: yes, from now on we will post links for direct MP3 downloads in the show notes at ScoutingStuffPodcast.com.
Scouter Eric, one of the advisors for the Northern Lights Medical Venturers, left us a 5-star review on Facebook:
So much good info to binge on...Also love getting to know a bit more about BSA stuff (even though this is a Canadian podcast)
Thanks for the review, Eric!
And Scouter Corey, who has been on the podcast before, sent a link to the podcast's Instagram account. Click on through to see a lashed-together, water wheel-powered rotisserie; now that's camp cooking!
Finally, Parker would like to give a shout-out to Troop 216, his troop; they're based out of Frisco, Texas.
And, as always, a big thank you to the folks at Scouting Radio for rebroadcasting Scouting Stuff episodes to their worldwide Scouting audience. If you're listening to us on Scouting Radio right now, let us know; reach out and get in touch. We'd love to hear from you.
